Swedish climate striker Greta Thunberg sparked a global strike to protest at the lack of government action to combat the climate crisis. Next week (22 and 23 April) she will be in London. Her two-day programme begins in Friends House, home of Quakers in Britain.

Oliver Robertson is the new Head of Witness & Worship for Quakers in Britain.
He will succeed Helen Drewery who leaves the post in the spring after more than thirty years working for Britain Yearly Meeting.

Quakers in Britain and Friends World Committee for Consultation are today (8 October) bringing together faith leaders and representatives from the Buddhist, Brahma Kumaris, Catholic, Protestant, Jewish, Muslim and Quaker communities for an interfaith celebration of sustainable living. They are meeting as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change's (IPCC) Special Report on Global Warming of 1.5°C delivers a sharp message that the world must act now to avoid climate catastrophe.

This week's global gathering on climate change brings politicians and activists to Bonn, Germany. The 23rd annual conference of the parties (COP) under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) aims to prevent dangerous global warming. Quakers in Britain have signed statements urging the conference to take urgent action.
