BYM 30 May 2026
Britain Yearly Meeting Trustees held their second meeting of the year.
What is this committee responsible for?
Britain Yearly Meeting Trustees are responsible for the national organisation of Quakers in Britain, including the stewardship of its properties, finances and staff. They are also responsible for legal compliance. They prepare an annual report on the activities and finances of Quakers in Britain which is laid before the Yearly meeting, and submitted to the charity regulator and published on its website.
What did it do at this meeting?
Business included reports from the Finance Team on the first quarter of 2026 and from Quiet Company on their performance in 2025 and their recent restructure. Trustees also welcomed and endorsed the Sustainability Strategy, along with an associated action plan and the formation of a new staff Delivery Group to ensure engagement on this work across the organisation.
In the Safeguarding Annual report, Trustees were pleased to hear that the recent independent safeguarding audit commissioned by the Internal Audit and Risk Committee concluded BYM has “solid foundations in place with some improvements needed". Work is in hand with a plan to complete those improvements.
The Fundraising team spoke to Trustees about how patterns of giving are changing within a reasonably stable income stream overall. They are always keen to build close relationships with donors and meetings.
