Supporting Human Rights and Peace in Russia
13 December 2022, Online
The pressure on Russians to support what is happening in Ukraine is huge. But those working for peace and human rights haven't stopped. Their work continues but it is often dangerous and hard for outsiders to see. What are they doing? And are there ways in which we can support them?
Sergei Nikitin, formerly of Friends House Moscow, formerly of Amnesty International Russia, co-hosts (with Simon Cosgrove) a podcast https://www.rightsinrussia.org/category/podcasts/ where he talks to Russians working for peace and human rights. He will talk about the situation for human rights defenders and peace activists in Russia and the challenges of and opportunities for supporting them.
This session is one of a series of sessions Woodbrooke is running on the Quaker peace testimony in a time of war – what we can do. When you register you will get access to a resource page where recordings of the sessions are posted. Topics include understanding war, addressing the long-term trauma of war, challenging militarism with more topics to follow.
