Celebrating Times and Seasons As Quakers
21 September - 21 June 2027, Online
An opportunity to explore a variety of seasonal themed practices and to discern what might be useful in our own spiritual journey across the year, whether that's a refreshed version of our established practice or something new and 'shiny'. Let's celebrate together!
A testimony held by early Friends was that against the keeping of times and seasons, since Quakers consider all of life is sacramental. However, we may run the risk of missing out on useful and timely reminders and pointers to the divine.
We will look at celebrating some of the seasonal markers of the calendar year – the solstice and the equinox. We will consider the Celtic Wheel of the Year and the Christian Liturgical Year. What might we choose to adopt or adapt from these into our own quiet times, to serve as timely reminders to enhance our outward practice and inward spiritual grace?
Over the four sessions/seasons, across the year, you will be able to experience and reflect on practices which could help shape your personal faith. Sharing will be invited as you ponder how to notice more the awe and wonder in the world. In this way we might also grow in our appreciation of, and care for, the planet.
The live Zoom sessions are at 19:00-21:00 (UK time) on Monday 21 September, Monday 14 December, Monday 15 March 2027 and Monday 21 June 2027.
