Moved To Speak by the Spirit? Theology From Our Experience
8 July - 12 August 2025, Online
Speaking in Quaker meeting for worship can be a surprise, a gift, and a challenge. It can make us shake and make us think. In this course we will explore our experiences with spoken ministry and theologise creatively together to see what we can learn.
This course will be an opportunity to consider speaking in meeting for worship as a unique element of the Quaker tradition. It will be playful as well as thoughtful with space for participants to bring their own insights and questions. Beginning from the experience of Quaker worship, including spoken ministry, we will consider what this tells us about the Spirit, however we understand that.
This course may be particularly useful for those who are exploring spoken ministry from different perspectives – for example, if you are in a spiritual nurture or eldership role and considering ministry in the whole meeting, if you are being led to minister and exploring how that feels, or if you are relatively new to Quaker worship and want to understand what spoken ministry is.
The live sessions will take place on Zoom every Tuesday at 19:00-20:30 (UK time).
