Grants on offer

    Hope Grants

    We make grants of up to £750 to improve the quality of life for Quaker members and attenders affected by long-term unemployment or unable to make a living wage.

    Please note that the application process can take up to a few weeks. These grants should therefore not be relied on for emergency funding.

    You will need the support of a supporting Friend (a Friend who is a role holder within the appropriate local or area meeting) when making the application.

    Adult and Further Education Grants

    These grants are particularly aimed at members and attenders gaining further or higher education to equip themselves to serve society and/or Quakers in Britain.

    To apply you should be a mature student or graduate, either in membership of Britain Yearly Meeting or an attender of at least five years (this may be waived for applicants showing evidence of strong support from the local meeting or another Quaker body). You should be in need of financial support to take the course.

    The course should be offered at a reputable institution within the UK.

    How to apply

    Applications for 2026, including the 2026-2027 academic year, are open all year and will be considered at Grants Group's June, September and November meetings. The deadlines for applications are:

    • 24 April for the June meeting (for courses beginning in or after September)
    • 31 July for the September meeting (for courses beginning in or after December)
    • 25 September for the November meeting (for courses beginning in or after February)

    Prospect Grants

    We give Prospect Grants to Quaker members or attenders to support the move from unemployment to self-employment. It is aimed at those intending to set up a new business.

    The grants can be up to £4,000 and are made in two parts.

    You will need the support of a local overseer or equivalent when making the application. You will also need to supply outline business plans.
