5 Take-aways from George Fox 400
In 2024, Quakers around the world marked the 400th anniversary of the birth of George Fox, the best known of early Quakers. Celebrating the life of one man was a challenge to the Quaker testimony to equality, so focus was on the significant contribution he and others made to the beginnings of the Quaker movement. It was a chance to look back at how the religion started and celebrate the continued work of Quakers around the world for peace, truth and justice.

Share your time and change lives
So many of us throughout our lives have been touched by the selfless (and unpaid) service of others – from the welcome cup of tea in a hospital waiting room to the Brownie leaders, amateur football coaches, the voice at the end of a helpline and those who run the food banks. How much less rich our lives would be without those who share their precious time looking after us.

Witnessing for peace at a time of Remembrance
As Remembrance Day approaches Quakers may find themselves having to consider whether or not to attend community commemorations, church services, parades or participate in wreath-laying. As Quakers, our natural inclination is to stay away from events which seem to glorify Britain's military past. Instead we may wish to focus on events that focus on the cost of war, and that encourage people to work for peace.

Quakers say there’s ‘room for more’ at the meeting house table
Whether they're in the centre of towns or the outskirts of villages, Quaker meeting houses are a familiar sight for many across Britain. But for the majority of passers-by, what actually goes on in them remains a mystery. This Quaker Week we're hoping to change that: to share the warm welcome that awaits people if they enter our meeting houses, and to let them know that we have room for more.

‘May love be amongst us’ as we walk the many pathways of faith
For me, the finding of the Quaker pathway of stillness and silence as the gateway to transcendence was criss-crossed with walking – sometimes running – along other pathways of faith. These explorations have been a real joy in my life. But since being a member of the Quaker Committee for Christian and Interfaith Relations (QCCIR) I have deepened that joy by meeting each person of faith, just as they are.

Would Little Amal go to Rwanda this year?
Last year, many British Quakers took part in or witnessed a series of events throughout Britain in which a 3m tall puppet, Little Amal, journeyed from the Syrian border via Dover to Manchester, joining in events and rallies during her journey. Amal symbolised the search for a new life of thousands of migrants and asylum seekers. The events were inspiring and full of hope.
