Over the last few months, I've seen Quakers respond creatively, faithfully and lovingly to the challenges presented by Covid-19. This has led to worship happening in ways most of us would scarcely have dreamt of a year ago.

These include a stated desire to abolish capitalism and "a failure to condemn illegal activities done in support of their cause". The guidance also bans "victim narratives that are harmful to British society".

At our Yearly Meeting in August 2021, Quakers in Britain recorded:"We seek to provide places of worship and community that are welcoming and supportive to trans and non-binary people who want to be among us. Belonging is more than fitting in.With glad hearts we acknowledge and affirm the trans and gender diverse Friends in our Quaker communities, and express appreciation for the contribution and gifts that they bring to our meetings, which are communities made up of people with a diverse range of gender expressions. The end of our travelling is for differences not to divide us. We rejoice in recognising God's creation in one another. This is what love requires of us."– part of Minute 31

World Day of Prayer 2022 falls on 4 March. It aims to bring together women of various races, cultures and traditions in closer understanding. Each year a different country is selected to write the liturgy for a worldwide day of prayer and England, Wales and Northern Ireland had been chosen for 2022; the first time since 1945. WDP is an international ecumenical women's movement which began in the USA in 1887 and is celebrated annually in over 150 countries.

Caring can be a lonely business. For those of us who care about climate justice, it can feel very isolating to see people around us continuing as though nothing is happening. We can feel ashamed or paralysed if we can't convert that care into action. Following 'The Big One' Extinction Rebellion protest in London in April, a Quaker told me that the real challenge wasn't the protest – it was coming home.

Swarthmoor Hall in Lancashire was the centre of early Quakerism. It overcame raids by the local constabulary, complaints from the neighbours and a long-running dispute over ownership to provide an information hub, a safe haven for travelling Friends and a place for worship.
