QPSWCC 23 February 2025
Quaker Peace & Social Witness Central Committee (QPSWCC) held an additional meeting to discuss peace in the context of a country and world becoming more militaristic, violent and unpeaceful.
What is this committee responsible for?
QPSWCC oversees national Quaker efforts to build a sustainable and peaceful world, and helps shape Quaker positions on public affairs.
What did it do at this meeting?
One meeting, one topic. We looked exclusively at our peace work and considered what we should be focusing on given the rapidly changing world. We reviewed an analysis of the current threats to peace, discussed the areas of work for peace where Quakers could make a particular contribution, and considered setting up a working group including Friends from beyond QPSWCC to continue our thinking on this.
With Yearly Meeting focusing in 2025 on peace, we know this is the start of a conversation not an end of it, and will be something to return to in future meetings.
