QLCC 19 September 2026

Quaker Life Central Committee (QLCC) looked at issues coming to and arising from Yearly Meeting, and plans for supporting Quaker communities and for engaging with the draft new book of discipline.

What is this committee responsible for?

QLCC guides all Quaker work to support Quaker communities to grow, thrive and be inclusive.

What did it do at this meeting?

The committee heard how proposals on membership were received at Yearly Meeting in July and agreed to set up a new group to look at the detail of how non-geographic membership could work. It also considered the wording of the Quaker marriage declaration, ahead of that issue being considered at Yearly Meeting in November.

Alongside this, there were updates on the implementation of the new integrated strategy for supporting Quaker communities, agreed earlier this year, and the plans to help Friends engage with the draft new book of discipline.
