The UK is reportedly in discussions with France and Saudi Arabia over the recognition of a Palestinian state.

As David Lammy says, “It is unacceptable for any group of people to have lived with no state for longer than I've been alive."

In 2014, the UK parliament voted to recognise Palestine. Since then, no government has taken that step.

With the Israeli government pushing full steam ahead with policies to annex Palestinian land – in violation of international law – any chance of a two-state solution is now hanging by a thread.

Over a decade since Quakers first called on the UK government to take this historic step, we once again urge our leaders to play their part in bringing the 58-year occupation to an end and recognise the state of Palestine with immediate effect.
