Talk on Peace Education
1 October 2017, Southampton
To mark the start of Quaker Week Southampton Quaker Meeting is opening its Meeting House to the public with a shared lunch and talk by Paul Parker, which will include stories and insights about the work of Quakers' Peace Education in Britain.
Find out why Peace Education is an important part of the peace work of Quakers in Britain. How do Quakers challenge the promotion of war and violence? Hear practical examples of positive peace and justice education, and the impact it has.
Quakers work with educators, volunteers and partners to develop and make available creative peace education resources and practices. Peace education helps children and young people develop the skills and understanding needed to be peacemakers.
Paul Parker serves as the Recording Clerk of Britain Yearly Meeting, the national organisation working with and for Quakers in England, Wales, Scotland, the Channel Islands and the Isle of Man. He is responsible for the centrally managed work of Quakers in Britain.
