Listening to the Light
20 August - 29 September 2021, Woodbrooke online
Liberal Quaker theology is based on the idea – or perhaps it's a practice, or both – of paying attention to a Divine voice speaking directly to and within human beings. Join Quakers from around the world to explore these practices and ideas through the participatory, collaborative medium of Twitter.
Variously understood as the Inward Light of Christ, Love, Truth, the Spirit, that of God or good within, and in many other ways, this Inner Guide is the basis of unprogrammed Quaker worship and the Quaker tradition of decision-making through collective discernment. What are the origins and implications of this approach?
Rhiannon Grant will prompt conversation by sharing material from her academic research and forthcoming book, Hearing the Light, through the Woodbrooke Twitter account.
We will then be able to work as equals to explore the aspects of the topic which interest regular participants and passers-by – whatever we are led to discuss.
This course is free to access on Twitter but we encourage you to sign up here and make a donation if you wish. We will then send you reminders of when the course starts and the hashtag.
