Legacies in the past, Legacies Today
20 November 2026, London
Are you curious about how legacies have supported Quaker work in the past? Want to know more about how a gift in your will can sustain the work? Maybe you are simply wanting the chance to socialise with other Friends while you learn something new? Whatever your reason, you are welcome to join us on the 20th November at this informal evening event.
At this evening event at Friends House, you'll find out more about how legacies have supported Quakers and how legacies you leave can do so in the future.
Starting at 6:30 pm, there will be tours of the Friends House Library (first-come, first-served), where there will be a display of historical materials about legacies and fundraising by Friends in past times. From 7:15 pm, we will hear a few brief talks.
Siobhán Haire, Deputy Recording Clerk, will be telling us all about the work of Quakers in Britain, and how crucial legacy giving has been in enabling the charity to do the work discerned by Friends. Libby Adams, Head of Library and Archives, will share with us an example of how a legacy gift supported a key aspect of their work and Graham Torr, Giving Advocate and Treasurer of York AM will talk about why he is leaving a gift in his will to Quakers in Britain.
You'll also have a chance to socialise, talk to staff, and find out more about leaving a legacy for Quaker work. There will be refreshments and a finger food buffet, so please join us!
