MAY 31

Going Inside: Quaker Prison Chaplain training

31 May - 19 June 2022, Online

Are you a recently nominated Prison Chaplain starting out in this ministry? Or one with experience who would like a refresher? This course will cover practical issues about working in the prison environment and how to build trust with staff and inmates within clear boundaries.

It will also encourage you to reflect on the Quaker basis of your ministry within a multi-faith team and to deepen your understanding of the role. Anyone serving as a QPC who hasn't previously attended this role training is eligible and can request funding from their area meeting.

The course will be led by two experienced serving prison chaplains in three 'live' sessions, with time in between for individual study to inform your practice.

The date period given for the course is when you are expected to interact with the online material and discussion forum; you can work on this at any time to suit you.

Sessions will not be recorded and we ask you to participate in all three sessions to get full benefit from the course.

The live Zoom sessions are on:
  • Tuesday 7 June – 19:30 to 21:30 (UK time)
  • Saturday 11 June – 10:00 to 12:30 (UK time)
  • Thursday 16 June – 19:30 to 21:30 (UK time)

There will be about 2 hours of individual tasks and reflection in preparation before each live session. There will also be an extra optional support session on Thursday 7 July from 19:30 to 21:00.
