Connecting as a Community
This special edition of Journeys in the Spirit looks at young people's participation.
This resource is to be used to facilitate activities that link the meeting's provision for young people aged between 12 and 18 with the wider meeting. This material is written to be used by the meeting as a set of community activities (for all ages from 12 onwards). There are two parts to this resource. The first is for older and younger generations to share where they are coming from and the second is for them then to work together on activities that will enable a shared journey as a community.

Engaging with Schools
This resource has been created to support Friends and Quaker meetings working with schools and other groups of children and young people visiting the meeting house. It also contains ideas for talks, discussions and sessions for anyone visiting a school or other group
A core aspect of most Religious Education (RE) curriculums involves finding out about faith communities and religious buildings. As a result, local schools often want to visit Quaker meeting houses to find out about our worship, our history and our way of life, as well as explore our place of worship. This can be an ideal opportunity for outreach and to make connections with the local community.

Journeys in the Spirit - Games Supplement
Gathering, active and reflective games suitable for children and young people aged 5-18.
The games are not separated into categories, but they roughly come in the order of: name games and icebreakers, followed by energisers, followed by reflective games.
Each game has a number, title and a box with: description of the game type (ice-breaker, energizer, reflective etc.); timing; equipment needed; size of group to play it with and whether it involves the whole group together or splitting into small groups; appropriate ages for the game.
Following is the process for playing the game, and some games have a 'theme alternative' suggesting how to change the game to reflect on or explore issues within a theme.

This book, Living our beliefs, is the response. Since its publication in 2016, it has been an essential book not just for young people, but many adults too.

Sharing our journeys
Exploring Quaker spirituality with young people and adults.
As Quakers we are co-disciples and fellow pilgrims on individual and shared spiritual and religious journeys. Our spiritual journeys are not like any other voyage we might make. We don't stop travelling spiritually; we may journey into the unknown; we can go in different directions and sometimes we find ourselves going back on ourselves. Sharing our spiritual journeys with others and travelling alongside them can be a powerful, encouraging and enabling experience for us and for those who share their journeys with us and who we share ours with.
