The Children and Young People Volunteer Training Team is currently putting the finishing touches to next year's programme - so follow the link below if you want to grab a place.

Amongst the training sessions on offer in 2025 was 'Exploring the Spiritual with Children and Young People.'

In their autumn workshop, sixteen Friends from eight local meetings from Central England Area Meeting and Worcestershire and Shropshire Area Meeting gathered in Birmingham to find out more.

"The aim of the day was to support participants to gain confidence and introduce new ideas into children's meetings," explained Hilary Topp, the Local Development Worker for the West Midlands.

"Our excellent facilitators, Ellie and Madeleine began by encouraging Friends to find word associations to explore their understanding of 'religious' and 'spiritual'. This was followed by guidance on session planning and exploring how simple activities like colouring or crafting, enables conversation to happen more freely. Finally, they shared useful resources including book lists, Godly Play sets, Faith and Play sets, and plenty of online Quaker resources including Journeys in the Spirit."

Afterwards, Friends commented the day had been 'inspirational'.
