Swedish climate activist and Nobel Prize nominee Greta Thunberg today urged everyone to listen to scientists and face the crisis of climate change. She was welcomed to Friends House by young Quakers.

Swedish climate striker Greta Thunberg sparked a global strike to protest at the lack of government action to combat the climate crisis. Next week (22 and 23 April) she will be in London. Her two-day programme begins in Friends House, home of Quakers in Britain.

Kindertransport survivors call for routes to sanctuary for child refugees

In the chaotic months before the outbreak of World War II, Jewish people were in desperate need of help to escape German-occupied Europe. Quakers were among those who responded, creating the Kindertransport to bring children to safety and persuading the government to amend visa requirements. Today, some of the survivors are urging the UK government to provide more routes to sanctuary for child refugees.

Remembrance is just the beginning
