Local meeting treasurers are responsible for the financial resources of the local meeting. They attend regular finance committee meetings and report back to meeting for business. They prepare and present the local meeting's annual accounts to submit to the area meeting treasurer.

Quakers and Kindertransport

The Germany Emergency Committee of the Religious Society of Friends was set up in 1933, shortly after Hitler came to power. This committee, alongside other groups, was responsible for helping Jewish children escape Nazi persecution in Germany, Czechoslovakia, Austria and Poland. It then supported them in the countries to which they had fled. This is known as the Kindertransport.

Wells-next-the-Sea: Raising awareness of homelessness

Five churches - including Quakers, which constitute the Churches Together group in Wells-next-the-Sea, took an initiative to raise awareness of homelessness. They have organised a sleep-out in December for two years to raise money and draw community attention to rough sleeping.
