We are looking for a determined and highly-organised person to join our Management Meeting, to lead a cross-organisational change process as Britain Yearly Meeting implements a significant change to our national church structures over the next two years.
Yearly Meeting 2024 agreed to lay down Meeting for Sufferings from 2026, and to hold open 'continuing' Yearly Meeting sessions throughout the year. This major constitutional change has far-reaching implications across BYM's work. As the Senior Change Leader: Quaker Governance, you will lead the transition to the new arrangement, ensuring constitutional and practical considerations are dealt with, and the opportunities for change are maximised. You will also develop BYM's ability to provide support to area meetings undergoing changes to governance structures at regional level.
We invite applications from Quaker members or attenders in good standing who are:
- knowledgeable and passionate about Quaker church structures and practices, charity law and good governance requirements,
- experienced in the Quaker business method in a range of contexts,
- able to lead and manage high-performing teams to deliver complex changes,
- good listeners and persuasive communicators, with strong interpersonal skills.
Alongside the opportunity to co-design a Quaker governance structure fit for the future, we offer a generous benefits package. To arrange an informal discussion of the role, please email Paul Parker, Recording Clerk, at RC@quaker.org.uk.
Quakers are committed to equality and welcome applicants from all identities and backgrounds. Selection is based solely on skills, experience, qualifications, and abilities. We aim to prevent age, belief, disability, ethnicity, gender, gender reassignment, marital status, nationality, neurodivergence, race, religion, sex, sexual orientation or social class from being a barrier to employment. We aim for an equitable, user-friendly application process, and reasonable adjustments can be made if needed. As a Quaker organisation we expect all applicants and employees to uphold our values.
We are committed to safeguarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, and all candidates will undergo pre-employment checks in line with our Safer Recruitment guidelines.
