Helping people cope with war and isolation in Gaza
8 October 2015, Bewdley
Based on the theme of "Living Life Adventurously" Jerry Conway will give a presentation on his work in Gaza.
Jerry Conway will lead an evening on the Quaker philosophy of "Living Life Adventurously" by explaining how he found himself crossing the Egyptian desert travelling to Gaza.
He will talk about his involvement with a Palestinian NGO to help people in Gaza cope with the psychological impact of war and occupation. He will be highlighting what Palestinians have taught him about supporting ourselves in difficult times. He will also talk about a remarkable way of helping ourselves called 'Focusing' and the surprising connection between this and 17th century Quaker practices.
This will be a lively evening with slides, a short film and an opportunity to try one of the exercises that Palestinians found really helpful.
Free event, no booking required.
