The Youth, Children and Families Worker in Thames Valley has supported Oxford meeting to start up 'Cake and Play', a weekly toddler and carer's group. Participants say they "love the mix of generations!"

Six months in, the group has fully rooted as its own vibrant, supportive community of Quaker volunteers and Quaker and non-Quaker babies, toddlers and their grown ups. All ages join together, to play, chat and have some fun. Julia Dover, the Development Worker reflects that 'for a few hours each week all participants feel this group as home".

Parents regularly comment on the warm welcome, the beautiful garden, and the gentle, open and relaxed space. One commented; “My child has little opportunity to play with other children, so this was wonderful!"

This regular cake and play group has both brought the local Quaker community together, and opened their doors to the wider local community, creating a space where young and old can enjoy each other's company and play and learn together.
