Talking across the divide

Updated 10 August 2023

In this time of growing division, my encounters with people who have radically different beliefs to mine are few and far between. My circles are becoming the classic echo chamber of familiar news stories. I am scared that in another ten years' time these conversations won't just be uncomfortable, talking across the divide might be impossible.

Taking my seat again: four years being Churches Together in England's 'Empty Chair' President

Updated 7 September 2023

Four and a half years ago I set up a blog. It was to be called 'Adventures in Ecumenism' and I was planning to explore and share my work as one of the Presidents of Churches Together in England. At the crossroads of climate justice and migrant rights

Updated 13 February 2025

Across our Yearly Meeting, the issues of climate justice and migrant rights are live concerns. Although they are often carried forward by different groups of Friends, they are somehow held invisibly together within our Quaker meetings. But in our wider communities, efforts to tackle these two issues aren't often unified, and it means that climate campaigning can sometimes feed into unintended harm on migrant issues.
