Stop Trident national demonstration

27 February 2016, London

Quakers and thousands of others will be in London to say "No" to government plans to buy a new system at a cost of over £100 billion. Parliament will be voting on this in 2016. So this is urgent – we can't delay.

Stop Trident national demonstration

The Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND), together with Quakers in Britain and 20 other organisations, are calling a national demonstration to protest against Britain's nuclear weapons system: Trident.

People are asked to assemble at 12:00 in Hyde Park, by Marble Arch tube station - on the corner of Upper Brook Street and Park Lane - for the march to Trafalgar Square. If you would like to march under the Quaker banner, please look for the 'No Faith in Trident' bloc, where we will be assembling together with other churches and other faiths.

Prior to the march, at 11:00, there will be a brief interfaith service, incorporating some Quaker silent worship plus music and readings from other faiths, at Hinde Street Methodist Church, 19 Thayer St, London W1U 2QJ. We will then process from there to the assembly point for the start of the march as above.

From 14:00 onwards, we will be on the steps of St Martin-in-the-Fields, with the Quaker banner. Join us here if you can not join the march!

Please sign up for the march on the Facebook event.

And if you can help with stewarding on the day, or are able to organise a coach going from your area, please contact Tim Wallis at QPSW timw@quaker.org.uk or Anne Schulthess anne.schulthess@cnduk.org at CND.
