Challenging media bias on militarisation
"I feel strongly that the culture of militarism in schools ought to be avoided." Clare Scott, Lucy Pollard, Sarah Sheard and Ann James heard what they felt was a one-sided piece on the Today Programme about the introduction of cadets in state schools. Quakers have taken a further step towards discussing assisted dying in the UK.When Quaker representatives from across Britain met at the weekend some suggested it was time to work for a change in the law in relation to assisted dying in the UK. Quakers are being encouraged to further explore the issue of assisted dying, and dying and death more generally, recognising that there are differing and deeply-held views.

People-to-people diplomacy with Russian people
This initiative is an example of people-to-people diplomacy, also called citizen diplomacy. It describes the simple and sincere connections that members of the general public can make with others, despite obstacles caused by war and conflict. Diplomacy has many facets, and unlike traditional government diplomacy, this is open to anyone. It is one way that individuals can help create conditions for enduring peace.
