Quaker Music Network

Updated 23 April 2019

The Quaker Music Network was formed when The Leaveners was laid down. They intend to keep the tradition of Choral and Chamber Music weekends alive. These have been held for more than 30 years and enable both instrumentalists and singers to make music together in a Quaker atmosphere. In the future, it may be possible for QMN to become an umbrella for other Quaker music-making projects.

Vigil against renewal of Trident

Updated 8 April 2016

Bury St Edmunds Quakers believe it to be a sin against our common humanity as well as an appalling use of money at a time when austerity measures threaten peoples' livelihoods. Inspired by three creative Friends, Bury Meeting carried out a silent vigil to protest against the possible replacement of the Trident nuclear missile system, which is to be decided on in 2016.

Wheel Stop Trident

Updated 12 February 2020

Around 14 young people, most with a Quaker background, formed Wheel Stop Trident in early 2015. Since then, we've pedalled cheerfully from London to Reading, and from Trident-linked arms company offices to Parliament, calling for the government to scrap Trident and spend the £100 billion on services that ensure true security.
