The Quaker Life children and young people's staff team organise a national programme of events for young Quakers of all ages.

Our events

Each event aims to bring together children and young people from across Britain Yearly Meeting. Children and young people are provided with opportunities to support their spiritual growth, personal development and understanding of Quaker faith and practice. They are encouraged to explore their faith and spiritual lives within their Quaker community.

Events for young Quakers are by age category, with some events taking place as part of a three year cycle. There are also all-age worshiping communities and regionally based events, which help connect Quaker meetings in the same region.

    Live Adventurously

Live Adventurously took place at Gilwell Park Activity Centre from 25 - 27 July. 26 children explored what it meant to be a Quaker adventurer through stories, games and having a go at some real adventurous activities! Worship and discussions in small groups allowed reflection on what being a Quaker and 'living adventurously' means. Participants enjoyed getting to know other young Quakers and dancing and eating marshmallows around a campfire. Reflections at the end of the event revealed that an adventurous couple of days had led some people to conquer fears and others to go beyond their own expectations, truly living adventurously.

    Accompanying

Accompanying for young people aged 15 – 18 year was a part of Yearly Meeting 2019. It provided a space for young people to gather in Friends House and participate in Yearly Meeting, with an adult team alongside them, as well as offering some social activities.

    Facilitation and Leadership

Facilitation and Leadership is an invigorating event for 16-21 year olds. This is a great opportunity for young Quakers who want to facilitate activities for other young Quakers. We will look at how to build community in groups we're part of and how to reflect Quaker beliefs, values and practices in our facilitation. The event is open to people new to facilitation and those with previous experience.See the yqspace website for further information.
