The work of Quaker Peace & Social Witness
What is the work about?
QPSW helps Quakers in Britain to live out their faith in the world. We do the things that are best done at a national level – running peacebuilding projects overseas, campaigning on behalf of Quakers on issues we all care about, providing resources which Quakers across the yearly meeting can use.
Why does it matter?
Our faith and our witness in the world are inseparable – each feeds the other. The Quaker testimonies to peace, integrity, equality and simplicity provide signposts to what we are led to do. Our actions can make the world a better place.
Who benefits from the work and how?
QPSW supports the work done in local meetings. It also does work which directly contributes to building peaceful and just communities, both in the UK and beyond. Through the activities of QPSW we hope to promote equality and peace for all people touched by our work.
What action can we take?
There are lots of ways to get involved in individual programmes of work. Possibly by being a volunteer or committee member or by using the resources QPSW provides to help you to study issues and to take action locally. In addition, you may like to invite a speaker to your meeting or attend the QPSW spring conference to learn more. Even if you can’t become involved actively, we hope you can contribute by upholding the work and by contributing financially – praying and paying.
