Stand Up and Take Action: The Great Persuasion
On 16–18 October, activists across the country will seek to persuade politicians of the urgent need to tackle global poverty and climate change.
The activists will be contacting parliamentary candidates in their constituencies and persuading them to pledge to work for a massive cut in CO2 emissions and take action on global poverty. This “Great Persuasion” is part of the global “Stand Up” that happens annually, in which millions of people demand that their leaders address poverty and injustice.
We are keen to support Friends who would like to join the Great Persuasion. With a general election coming soon it is important that candidates hear the electorate is concerned about international development and climate change, and this is an excellent opportunity to tell them about Quaker views on these issues.
