Songs of Praise and the Bicentenary of Abolition

16 Mar 2007

Friends House library will feature in a special edition of Songs of Praise to commemorate the bicentenary of the abolition of the transatlantic slave trade, on Sunday March 25.

Our library was the location for an interview with Bury the Chains author Adam Hochschild. Adam was filmed looking through our archive resources, which he used during the research for his book. In the programme he will be talking about the movement to abolish slavery which began with the Quakers and led to the parliamentary Act abolishing the trade in 1807.
