Quakers and the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit

A bold decision is needed at the Copenhagen Climate Change Summit, organised by the United Nations, at the end of 2009; it won’t be easy to reach a global agreement. Those negotiating on behalf of the UK and the EU will need a strong mandate to push for a good deal.

That mandate needs to come from you!

Quaker Peace & Social Witness is encouraging Friends to focus particularly on:

  • Learning about climate change, especially its implications for the poorest and most vulnerable in the world
  • Taking progressive steps towards sustainable living
  • Clearly demonstrating their support for an ambitious deal to their political representatives

Follow the links below for resources to help you do this.

There are lots of ways to show your concern over climate change ranging from local campaign events to national marches.

For more ideas on how you can campaign in the run up to Copenhagen take a look at the resources from Stop Climate Chaos: http://www.stopclimatechaos.org/files/scc-summer-action-pack.pdf
