New Living as a Quaker resource for young Quakers
Young Friends often experience Quakerism largely at young people’s events, within “a Quaker bubble”. They are also often misunderstood by their non-Quaker peers who simply see Quakerism as “a brand of porridge”.
How can our young people be supported to live as Quakers outside of the bubble? Quakerism is hard to define, even for the most eloquent. Central to the identity of young people’s Quakerism is shared worship and a sense of an inclusive peer group. But this doesn’t necessarily mean that when faced with questions they have the tools, confidence and understanding to respond to enquiries.
The Living as a Quaker resource, for 12–18-year-olds, focuses on exploring Quakerism. In a fast-paced generation, this resource offers an opportunity for young Friends to pause, to reflect, and to consider what living as a Quaker means for them. Exploring the place of Quaker values, beliefs and testimonies in today’s global society, Living as a Quaker provides tools to live and share this way of being.
