Scotland - Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme
The current system of applying for Enhanced/Standard Scottish Disclosures will continue into the New Year. It is now anticipated that the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme will be launched in February 2011. It was planned to start on in November 2010.
The new scheme in Scotland will require new official forms to be completed. We do not yet have details of the role that Quaker Life or the Churches’ Agency for Safeguarding will play in Friends and meetings obtaining access to the PVG Scheme. Meanwhile, please visit the following websites, where more details will be available:
- Scottish government site - PVG scheme (offsite link - new window)
- The Churches’ Agency for Safeguarding - Scottish PVG (offsite link - new window)
- Disclosure Scotland - PVG scheme (offsite link - new window)
However, if you are working or volunteering at an event in Scotland, you may need to have a check obtained through a different scheme.
Applications for volunteers are free to meetings. If the application is for a paid position then ensure that a cheque for the appropriate fee is included. Please enclose a cheque made payable to “Disclosure Scotland”.
