Getting Fairtrade Status

Could your meeting get Fairtrade status?

Faith groups, including many Quaker Meetings, continue to be key supporters of Fairtrade. To become a ‘Fairtrade Church’ your meeting needs to commit to:

  • using Fairtrade tea and coffee;
  • moving forwards on using other Fairtrade products such as sugar, biscuits and fruit;
  • and promoting Fairtrade during Fairtrade Fortnight and during the year through events, worship and other activities whenever possible. Fairtrade-photo-Marcus-Lyon-1.jpg

If a number of meetings in an area are committed to being Fairtrade, then your area meeting could consider becoming a Fairtrade Denominational Area. To do so your area meeting needs to commit to:

  • supporting and promoting Fairtrade;
  • ensuring that at least half of meetings have become a ‘Fairtrade Church’;
  • encouraging other meetings to adopt a Fairtrade policy;
  • raising awareness of the FAIRTRADE Mark;
  • and setting up a Fairtrade steering group.
