Attending a Quaker meeting

You do not have to be a Quaker to attend Quaker worship which is open to all. A gathering of Quakers for worship is called a Quaker meeting.

Meetings can be held anywhere, at any time, although they are often on Sundays in our Quaker meeting houses. If you would like to join us and share in our stillness you would be most welcome.

Individuals who attend meetings regularly are known as attenders. They often take an active part in organising activities in the Quaker meeting that they attend and play a full part in their Quaker community.

Being a Friend

Regular attenders may come to feel that the time is right for them to join The Religious Society of Friends in Britain (Quakers). Members are known as Friends. The Quaker community exists in many regions of the world [new window]. Some of the languages Friends speak carry no translation for “Quaker,” only of  “Friend”.

If you would like to find a local Quaker meeting you can use your postcode to find a meeting close to you.
