Stillness and Energy, Peace and Vitality - exhibition of paintings by Ann Johnson

Ann Johnson seeks to live adventurously through her work, experimenting with media and taking risks with charcoal and paint. She depicts what is around her - the South Downs landscape, gardens, animals and treasured pieces of pottery. Through a range of approaches, she shifts these subjects into more imagined presences. Ann says of her work 'My pictures are essentially about how combining colour, marks, space and tension create atmosphere. They are also about contrasts - where there is stillness, there is energy. Where there is peace, there is vitality.'
