The Quaker Life children and young people's staff team organise a national programme of events for young Quakers of all ages.

Our events

Each event aims to bring together children and young people from across Britain Yearly Meeting. Children and young people are provided with opportunities to support their spiritual growth, personal development and understanding of Quaker faith and practice. They are encouraged to explore their faith and spiritual lives within their Quaker community.

Events for young Quakers are by age category, with some events taking place as part of a three year cycle. There are also all-age worshiping communities and regionally based events, which help connect Quaker meetings in the same region.

    2017 Events

    Yearly Meeting Gathering Children's Programme

    The Children's Programme at Yearly Meeting Gathering for 0 to 11 year olds, took place from 29 July - 5 August at the University of Warwick. The Children's Programme Minute is available in the documents and minutes on the Yearly Meeting Gathering webpage as minute 41.

    Yearly Meeting Gathering Young People's Programme

    The Young People's Programme (YPP) event for young Quakers aged 11 to 14, took place at the University of Warwick from 29 July - 5 August.     Events for ages 15 to 18

    2018 Events

    Junior Yearly Meeting

    Junior Yearly Meeting (JYM) for young people aged 15 to 18, takes place in May alongside Yearly Meeting. There are two ways for a young person to come to JYM. Either by “nomination" or by an “open place". A “nomination" is when an Area Meeting, Quaker School or overseas Yearly Meeting asks a young person to attend as their representative. Nominations information is outlined below, open places can be booked from October.

    The deadline for nominations is 12 February, 2018

    Nomination form: If you are not nominating, please fill in Part 1 of the form. If you are nominating, fill in the whole form. Also available at https://forms.quaker.org.uk/2018-jym-nomination-form/.

    Guidelines for the named contact person: Guidelines for the person who is a contact within the area meeting, school or Yearly Meeting in the run up to JYM and will offer your nominees support and encouragement, especially in relation to returning the necessary forms and reporting back after JYM to AM, YM or school.

    We are committed to offering opportunities for all-age gatherings where this is possible. Information for future events when they are planned will me made available here.

    Regional events

    Link groups

    Link groups are Quaker youth groups for young Quakers from neighbouring area meetings. To find out if there is a link group near you look at the find an event page of the yqspace website for young Quakers.

    Young Quakers Calendar

    The calendar includes information on national events which includes; Junior Yearly Meeting, The Young People's Programme, Leaveners, summer events, regional events and link groups. The calendar can be found by going to the find an event page of the yqspace website for young Quakers.
