The Quaker Life children and young people's staff team organise a national programme of events for young Quakers of all ages.

Each event aims to bring together children and young people from across Britain Yearly Meeting. Children and young people are provided with opportunities to support their spiritual growth, personal development and understanding of Quaker faith and practice. They are encouraged to explore their faith and spiritual lives within their Quaker community.

Events for young Quakers are by age category, with some events taking place as part of a three year cycle. There are also all-age worshipping communities and regionally based events, which help connect Quaker meetings in the same region.

Children and families day in Friends House, London

This event took place on Monday 7 April 2014 and was a great success. 31 children aged 0 to 14 came with 21 parents and grandparents. Everybody was in a small group and had a tour of Friends House. The tour included:

    • A visit to the roof
    • a tour of and quiz about the Quaker Centre, worship space and bookshop
    • meetings with Quaker Peace and Social Witness staff
    • a trip into the depths of the Quaker Library, and
    • some time to explore what makes a welcoming Quaker meeting.

There were games and cake. It was a tiring but fun day – one 8 year old wanted to know when he could come to work in Friends House.

It is planned that a similar event will take place in 2017

Pictures, videos and fun stuff from all of the events that have taken place can be found at www.yqspace.org.uk.
