The Quaker Life children and young people's staff team organise a national programme of events for young Quakers of all ages.

Our events

Each event aims to bring together children and young people from across Britain Yearly Meeting. Children and young people are provided with opportunities to support their spiritual growth, personal development and understanding of Quaker faith and practice. They are encouraged to explore their faith and spiritual lives within their Quaker community.

Events for young Quakers are by age category, with some events taking place as part of a three year cycle. There are also all-age worshiping communities and regionally based events, which help connect Quaker meetings in the same region.

    Events for ages 0 to 11

    2016 Events

    Yearly Meeting Children's Programme

    This event takes place at the same time as Yearly Meeting, 28–30 May. The event is for children aged 0 to 11. For details of the Yearly Meeting Children's Programme 2016 visit the events page on the website. Please note that bookings for this event have now closed, although there are still a few spaces left in some of the age groups. If you are interested in attending this event please contact the CYP Administrator on 020 7663 1013 or email cypadmin@quaker.org.uk who can confirm if there is still space available.

    Events for ages 11 to 15

    2016 Events

    Young People's Programme

    This event takes place at the same time as Yearly Meeting, 27–30 May. It is for ages 11 to 15. For details of the Yearly Meeting Young People's Programme 2016 visit the events page on the website. Please note that bookings for this event have now closed although, we may still have one or two spaces available.     Living as a Quaker

    This weekend event taking place from 21 - 23 October at Felden Lodge, Hemel Hempstead, provides an opportunity for young Quakers aged 12 to 15 to explore Quaker identity, values and beliefs.They will be supported to strengthen their understanding of Quakerism and be encouraged to explore what they think and feel in their daily lives, in relation to their faith and spirituality.     Events for ages 15 to 18

    2016 Events

    Accompanying

    Accompanying is a non residential offer for young Quakers aged 15 to 18 at Friends House in London during Yearly Meeting. It includes attendance at Yearly Meeting and optional social activities out of session time.

    Anyone can come to Yearly Meeting. However to participate in Accompanying, individuals need to book in advance. Closing date for bookings is Thursday 28 April.

    Junior Yearly Meeting

    This is a residential event for ages 15 to 18 held from 2–6 April, 2016. For details about the Junior Yearly Meeting 2016 and for nominations and booking information visit the events page on the website.

    Facilitation and Leadership

    This is a training weekend for young people aged 15 to 21. It helps to develop skills in young Quakers who are involved in a wide range of activities including:

    • Planning and facilitating activities with their peers
    • serving on Quaker committees, or
    • are hoping to become an adult volunteer.

    Events across age ranges

    Exploring worship – being a spiritual warrior

    A weekend event for children aged 8 to 12 taking place at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre from 15–17 July 2016, with a separate programme for parents and carers. For details about Exploring worship visit the events page on the website.

    Living our Beliefs

    A one day event for Quaker youth/link groups to come together to worship and explore their personal and shared journeys in Quakerism. The day will be linking to the Living our Beliefs publication for young Quakers.

    Youth/link group coordinators are invited to bring a group of young people aged 12 to 18 from their Quaker meeting or youth/link group. This event is taking place on Saturday 9 July 2016, at Friends House Euston. For details about the Living our Beliefs event visit the events page of the website.

    Events for all age worshipping communities

    We are committed to offering opportunities for all-age gatherings where this is possible.

    Regional events

    Link groups

    Link groups are Quaker youth groups for young Quakers from neighbouring area meetings. To find out if there is a link group near you look at the find an event page of the yqspace website for young Quakers.
