The Quaker Life children and young people's staff team organise a national programme of events for young Quakers of all ages.

Our events

Each event aims to bring together children and young people from across Britain Yearly Meeting. Children and young people are provided with opportunities to support their spiritual growth, personal development and understanding of Quaker faith and practice. They are encouraged to explore their faith and spiritual lives within their Quaker community.

Events for young Quakers are by age category, with some events taking place as part of a three year cycle. There are also all-age worshiping communities and regionally based events, which help connect Quaker meetings in the same region.

    Facilitation and Leadership

This was a training weekend for young people aged 15 to 21. It helped to develop skills in young Quakers who are involved in a wide range of activities including:

    • Planning and facilitating activities with their peers, or
    • are hoping to become an adult volunteer.

For information about this training weekend please contact the CYP Administrator or 020 7663 1013.

Accompanying was an opportunity for 15-18 year olds to attend Yearly Meeting 2016. There were 10 participants who attended Yearly Meeting sessions and evening social activities, along with four adult volunteers.

The silence was extremely intense and the contributions were profound and moved me a lot.

I found participating in Yearly Meeting challenging at first but ultimately rewarding.

I felt connected to and respected by older Quakers.

The session about testing a concern was very inspiring as it showed how you personally could begin to make a difference no matter how small.

    Junior Yearly Meeting

This was a residential event for ages 15 to 18 held from 2–6 April, 2016. For details about the Junior Yearly Meeting 2016 including the Epistle and Minute and event photos visit the past event page on ypspace.
