The 10:10 campaign – a movement of people, school, businesses and organizations cutting their carbon by 10% in a year is organising a global day of doing on climate change on Sunday 10th October 2010. Across the world 1000s of people are going to be taking part in simple steps to reduce carbon emissions and send a message to global leaders that people everywhere are willing to tackle climate change. Woodbrooke and Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC), with encouragement from QPSW, are hosting Global Change Cluster Gatherings on the weekend of January 14-16, 2011 at Woodbrooke.
Much coverage of the negotiations on climate change focuses on the debate over carbon emissions reduction targets to try and prevent dangerous climate change. However, for many people climate change is already a fact of life, and negotiators are also debating finance for adaptation.
The Sustainability and Peace programme is committed to collaborating with Quaker and non-Quaker organisations working on sustainability and peace. Here are three examples of initiatives we have been involved in or that are coming up for you to join.
