Catalogues and Finding Aids
You can search on-line the printed books catalogue at www.quaker.org.uk/catalogue. This includes almost everything published before 1801, all anti-slavery publications and all printed items added since 1989. For the remaining 19th and 20th century stock you may also need to search the card catalogue in the Library when you visit.
The Library holds many collections of manuscripts (unpublished documents normally of non official origin, covering all periods of Quaker life and activity). There is a substantial card catalogue for these, and in some cases full calendars and/ or handlists. However, many other collections given to us have not been listed or indexed so far. Therefore, any searches you may make cannot cover all manuscripts lodged in the Library to date. However you are welcome to make an appointment to visit.
Other finding aids in the Library include lists of the archives of the central organisation of Britain Yearly Meeting, and we have location guide files for local Quaker records held in record offices and other repositories in the UK.
