Step by step

Yesterday I went to Whitstable in the glorious sunshine and paddled. I took a photo of myself dipping a toe in the water - something that I feel I've been doing a lot of, metaphorically, at this YMG.

Then today I came across a video put up on Facebook by my banjo-playing Ffriend from Texas, Terry SoRelle. I have known the song for a long time but the words spoke to me afresh after all the things we have been considering this week.

The path to sustainability is a long one and we have to take it step by step. But it is also vital that we take those steps together -  in community not in competition - and that I have to consider what steps I need to take to help that journey rather than hinder it.

Here is the link to the song http://songs.2quakers.net/step-by-step

and here are the words of the song -

Step by step the longest march
Can be won, can be won
Many stones can form an arch
Singly none, singly none
And by union what we will
Can be accomplished still
Drops of water turn the mill
Singly none, singly none
