Looking forward to first YMG
Yearly Meeting Gathering (YMG) is now less than a week away. If I explain that I work at Friends House on the website and publications you'll probably understand why I'm experiencing both a sense of great relief as well as expectation. By now gatherers should have events listings, docs in advance and a whole lot of other stuff. Everything else important is with the printers and finishing touches are being done on the website this week - including putting this blog live. It is, without doubt, our busiest time of year. That accounts for the sense of relief.
My sense of expectation comes from this being my first experience of YM as a participant rather than as an employee of the Society. For my family it is their first gathering of Friends outside of our local meeting. I'm looking forward to hooking up with friends and acquaintances and joining my family in meeting some new people.
The purpose of this blog is for us to present what YMG is all about. And, by extension, something of what our faith is about. I have asked some Friends who are attending YMG to contribute to this blog. Please let people know about the website, the blog and the event and if you find that what is written interests you, maybe you'll consider coming along to the next YMG.
If you are at YMG and see me knocking about (see attached photo of me in my gardening gear) I'd be very pleased to hear what you have to say about YMG, a reflection on one of the sessions, something interesting that has happened - anything. If you're happy to say it to camera - all the better!
In Friendship,
Nik
