Annual Conference of Treasurers

Related pages: Treasurers

The Annual Conference of Treasurers meets each year so that Friends involved in financial activities can get together to share problems and solutions, exchange ideas, make new contacts, hear about current issues and gain a better understanding of the financial position the Society.

The Annual Conference of Treasurers is your chance to meet other treasurers: to support them and be supported by them; to learn from others and to share your own insights. Treasurers and other meeting officers of all levels of experience find conference both rewarding and uplifting.

2012 Conference

Every day the radio, television and newspapers tell us that we are living in an age of austerity, caused at least in part by greed and moral deficiency within our own financial systems. Now more than ever we must be good stewards of money, doing our best to make savings grow and to make expenditure count. But we must also strive to manage our finances in a way that upholds our Quaker testimonies. How can we meet the challenge of these times? How do we go about ethical treasuring in an age of austerity?

At the 2012 conference we will explore these questions together. We will hear from Triodos Bank and Rathbone Greenbank about ethical banking and ethical investment. We will hear how Quaker Homeless Action, Quaker Social Action and the Quaker United Nations Office (Geneva) are making money count in putting our faith into action, and we will ask the question: “what does it mean to be a Quaker treasurer?”

The 2012 Annual Conference of Treasurers will be held at Woodbrooke Quaker Study Centre, Birmingham, from Friday 29 June to Sunday 1 July 2012. The conference is now fully booked.
