Accompaniers in Israel–Palestine
Accompaniers in Israel–Palestine
The military occupation of Palestine impacts on every aspect of daily life and causes great hardship to the Palestinian people. It has deprived people of their lands and their livelihoods and destroyed the economy. Human rights abuses are perpetrated daily.
The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel gives protection by being there on the ground. By standing alongside people at check-points and road blocks, by documenting and publicising human rights abuses, Ecumenical Accompaniers alleviate some of the suffering.
The project also offers solidarity to Israeli peace activists, marginalised in their own society, as they work to bring an end to the occupation. The project engages in advocacy in the UK to push for a just settlement - returned Ecumenical Accompaniers make speaking tours of meetings, churches and groups across the UK and Ireland.
